Vaila Mae

This Shetland Island Sixareen is a one off design, within the collection of Yacht Models I have made to date in Stainless Steel.

She was commissioned by a private client for her husband who had sailed on Vaila Mae in Shetland.

The Sixareen (Norwegian: seksring meaning “six-oared”) is a traditional fishing boat used around the Shetland Islands.

The client provided a photograph of Vaila Mae, shown here with the white square rig sail, for me to work from.

Vaila Mae was handmade in marine grade Stainless Steel and intended to be placed outdoors.

The sail has a brushed finish with highly polished stitch line detail and can be detached from mast and hull.

The hull is highly polished with brushed topsides with prow and stern detail.
