Meadow Gate Sculpture

This contemporary meadow gate sculpture was hand built in Stainless Steel and Copper, showcasing meadow flowers, varied leaves and a feature Dragon Fly.

Commissioned for a private suburban show garden, the gate reflects the client’s passion for her favourite blooms, transforming a simple entrance into a piece of Garden Art.

The client choose Agapanthus as a theme, with a meadow scattered across the bottom section of the gate. The Dragon Fly, positioned at the top of the gate, reads off other Dragon Fly artwork within the garden.

I wanted to create the look of a cast-iron gate, but made from Stainless Steel. The frame was built from mill finish solid 16mm bar.

The stems and heads of the Agapanthus were made from round Stainless Steel bar with silicone bronze detail.

The smaller meadow flowers were each individually handmade from a mixture of polished and brushed Stainless Steel and Copper.

The leaves scattered across the sculpture, again a mix of polished Stainless and brushed Copper, with one neatly concealing the handle with a latch mechanism.
