BIO

Grant grew up around boats in Howth Harbour and on the lakes of the River Shannon.

His thirst for adventure and learning took him aboard the Irish Sail Training Vessel, Asgard II, initially as a Trainee and latterly as Bosun.

Grant’s time on Asgard II not only allowed him to see the world but also provided a rich, hands-on education in marine craftsmanship.

Largely self-taught, he learnt from experts, working alongside shipwrights during his time at sea and built his own skills and experience through practice and experiments.

GRANT DESIGNS, established in 2017, was a natural progression for his love of creating nautical, botanical & conceptual art.

Combining his love for the nautical world with his burgeoning passion for art, he began crafting stunning pieces in Stainless Steel and Copper. Grant’s sculptures are a testament to his fascination with movement and form.

“I strive to create art that captures beauty and conveys a sense of fluidity and grace,” says Grant.

His dedication to his craft and his unique background ensure that each piece he creates is not only a work of art but also a reflection of his life’s journey
