I was honoured to have my sculpture ‘Harlequin‘ selected for this prestigious exhibition in The Walled Garden of Bangor Castle this summer.
Harlequin strives to evoke the dynamic motion of a Harlequin acrobat —capturing the illusion of a graceful, twisting ascent, as though caught mid-dance.
Hand built from individually formed sections of Stainless Steel, each element is carefully shaped and arranged around a central axis, drawing the eye upward towards the light.
The mirror-polished finish takes on a fluid, almost liquid quality, while still evoking the iconic patchwork satin costume of the acrobat.
The exhibition curators selected an ideal position for Harlequin amidst green and bronze planting allowing the surrounding foliage to be reflected in the ever changing surface of the sculpture.
The sculpture appears to shift between presence and absence, appearing and dissolving depending on the viewer’s perspective.

A visit to Bangor Castle Walled Garden is a real escape and the sculptures enhance this experience even further.
Some of the works are of large scale and compliment the setting whilst other, more subtle, works will need to be sought out, adding a further dimension to this engaging exhibition.
Explore sculptures and artworks in the beautiful surroundings of The Walled Garden at Bangor Castle. ForM Sculpture Exhibition gives visitors the unique opportunity to experience art in a different context, outside the traditional gallery setting.
The exhibition will showcase selected works from artists from across the island of Ireland who exhibit both nationally and internationally and are inspired by the garden environment. This year the exhibition will feature more sculptures than ever before!
